HIVE Summer Internships 2026-27

CALL FOR PROJECT PROPOSALS

Turn a research question into a visualisation project and gain a motivated student to pursue it over the summer.

The HIVE Summer Internship Program pairs Curtin academics with high-calibre students to tackle research projects that make use of advanced visualisation technologies. As primary supervisor, you set the research direction; the HIVE provides the student, the funding (through student selection via selection panel), the technical expertise, and the facilities to deliver it.

What you get

  • A paid intern for 10 weeks, funded by a $7,500 scholarship ‐ at no cost to your own budget.
  • A dedicated HIVE Visualisation Specialist assigned to your project, supervising the technical and visualisation aspects of the work so you can focus on the research aspect.
  • Access to Curtin's high-tech visualisation environment to explore your data and results in ways standard methods can't offer.
  • Structured support for your student through workshops delivered across the program.

What we ask

You must be a Curtin academic staff member, able to host the student over the summer, and your project must make meaningful use of visualisations and HIVE facilities. Projects are welcome from any research field ‐ if your work generates complex data, spatial information, or results that benefit from being seen rather than tabulated, it's a strong candidate.

Eligible students range from 2nd-year undergraduates through to PhD candidates based at Bentley over the summer vacation period, so you can pitch a project scaled to the level of support you're after.
